Guandao
The Guandao
Heavy, curved, and versatile, the guandao combined the thrust of a spear with the sweeping power of a sword. Its long shaft and broad blade made it deadly against infantry and cavalry alike—able to sweep through ranks or unhorse riders. Legends tie it to the great general Guan Yu of the Three Kingdoms, elevating it into a symbol of loyalty, strength, and martial virtue. Soldiers drilled with it in formation, while martial artists refined its techniques into the flowing routines still practiced today.
Description
Sword Masters Challenge’s Guandao is a 170 cm LARP weapon inspired by the traditional yanyuedao. It features a sweeping 69 cm blade mounted to a sculpted 80 cm staff, detailed with golden embellishments and a red leather wrap. A hole near the blade allows for tassels or rings, used in martial practice to test precision. Built from closed-cell foam around a fiberglass core and finished with latex, it balances safety, durability, and authentic style.
