Jade Dao
The Jade Dao
Known as the “General of Weapons,” the dao was the trusted sword of Chinese soldiers and generals for centuries. With its slightly curved, single edge, it excelled at fluid slashes and powerful chops, carried by cavalry in the Tang dynasty and by Ming imperial guards alike. The Jade Dao embodies this legacy, its handle styled like carved jade and gold—more than a weapon, it is a symbol of artistry, spirit, and martial tradition.
Description
Sword Masters Challenge’s Jade Dao is an 85 cm LARP blade with a curved edge and false back edge for piercing strikes. Its polyurethane handle, painted to resemble jade and gold with a ring pommel, balances elegance with function. Constructed from closed-cell foam around a fiberglass core and finished with latex, it is durable, safe, and well-balanced, ideal for LARP, cosplay, or display.
History
As one of the “Four Great Weapons,” the dao became the standard sidearm of Chinese armies by the Ming dynasty, representing martial strength and the soldier’s craft.
