Persian Blade (Scimitar)
The Persian Blade
The shamshir—Persian for “lion’s claw”—was more than a sword. Its sweeping curve gave it speed and precision, devastating in wide slashes and cavalry charges. Unlike the rigid thrusts of Greek hoplites, Persian warriors moved fluidly, striking flanks and exploiting gaps in enemy lines. Over centuries, the blade evolved with the rise of cavalry, its design spreading across the Middle East and beyond, becoming a lasting symbol of Persian identity and empire.
Description
Sword Masters Challenge’s Persian Blade is an 87 cm LARP sword with a 67 cm curved blade that thickens near the tip for chopping power. A false edge on the back adds piercing capability. Its 16 cm leather-wrapped handle ends in a curled pommel, distinctive of Persian craftsmanship. Constructed from closed-cell foam around a fiberglass core and finished with latex, it balances durability, safety, and historical style.
